Foundation & Practitioner Level Training (instructor led)

Overview

PRINCE2ฎ (Projects in a Controlled Environment) is internationally accepted as the leading “best practice” project management approach. The method is scalable and can be tailored to any organisation’s existing standards, approaches and business.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand the PRINCE2 method at the Foundation Level and, where chosen, the  Practitioner level.

• Understand how to apply the integrated elements of PRINCE2  (principles, processes, themes and tailoring) within a work environment.

• Understand the benefits and principles underlying a structured approach to project management.

• Help delegates to operate effectively with colleagues and managers within a structured project management environment.

• To pass the PRINCE2 Foundation Exam, where chosen, the PRINCE2 Practitioner Level Exam.

Course Structure

A 6-day program comprises a 3-day foundation course and 3-day practitioner preparation course. They can be taken together (6 days) or separately (4 days + 3 days).

Through practice exams, workshops and overnight study(homework), you gain the knowledge and skills required to first of all take the Foundation Exam on Day 4, and then the Practitioner Exam on Day 6 of the program.

Approach

The event will be delivered by APMG approved PRINCE2 Trainers with practical experience of using the PRINCE2 method over a wide range of projects. The style of delivery will be instructor-led with the trainer taking attendees through each elements of the Method and illustrating each key point with examples. Questions and discussions will be encouraged throughout the event.

A summary of how each Process operates and the linkages that exist between the PRINCE2 Themes & Processes will be presented using Process Integration Models.

Trainer Profile

Simon Seow has over 30 years experience in IT and Management. He has specialised in the areas of Project Management, Business Analysis method and Governance Frameworks.

He is an APMG (UK) certi-ed Practitioner and Trainer in PRINCE2 and P3O. He is also certified in SSADM (System Analysis Methodology)and in Enterprise Architecture (EA), Zachman Certified & TOGAF.

Simon is well known for his column “Simon Says”, in the Corporate IT section of INTECH, The Star Newspaper, where he shares best practice guidance and experiences.

PRINCE2 is a process-based approach for project management. There are 7 processes in PRINCE2 which provide the set of activities required to direct, manage and deliver a project successfully.

• InfoSpec’s PRINCE2 Process Integration Model will be used to help delegates understand & appreciate what should be done to manage each project and why it should be done and when in the project life cycle.

Exam Structure & Techniques

PRINCE2 Practitioner Exam ( 2 &1/2 Hours )

Practitioner Level:

Delegates are required to demonstrate the Application of the PRINCE2 Method through:

  • appropriate use of themes

  • creation of management products

  • ability to apply appropriate tailoring of the PRINCE2 processes and themes

Practitioner exam is held on Day 6

• 9 questions, with a scenario background & appendices.

• 2 1/2 - hours duration

• Open-book examination  (only PRINCE2Manual is allowed)
